What is Resume?

 

A French word, means ‘Summary’
Used in Job Applications
A brief summary of Profession, Education, Skill, Experience etc.
No need to write all profile details
Specific Skills are highlighted
Consists of 1-2 pages
‘Best in you’ is focused
Bullets and numbers are used
An overview of career
Generally used in private sector

 

What is CV?

 

‘Curriculum Vitae’, a Latin word, means ‘course of life’
More detailed than Resume, but similar to Resume
Consists of 2-3 pages, even longer if required
Presented in chronological order
Lists out details of all Skills, Qualifications, Affiliations and Professions
General Talent is highlighted rather than specific skills
Used for applying academic positions, jobs and internships
Generally used in public sector

 

What is Bio-data?

 

Means ‘a Biographical Data’
Old fashioned terminology for Resume or CV
Contains the biological facts about a person
Name, Gender, Address, Education, Age, Height, Weight, Marital status, Religion, Nationality, Hobbies, Achievement etc. are focused
Includes a range of specific factual information about an individual
Consists of 1-3 pages
Used differently in different countries
